22nd February @ The Forum, Bath

Bath Education Trust (BET) is a partnership and collaboration of key education providers and businesses in Bath and North East Somerset. The aim of the Trust is to improve the educational experience of young people in our schools and colleges and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

Our conference in February was attended by just short of 900 people, including staff and governors from eleven schools and colleges, Bath’s two universities and representatives from businesses and the local community.

It was a high profile event in the region and there was a vast media profile. To demonstrate our commitment to developing the skills of young people, the event management and marketing was led by 19 students from our college and schools, working under the name Bladud Business Enterprise. It was managed and run by a team of 19 students studying Business in their first year at Bath College, with help from Axis Events to guide them in the right direction, and the all the video shots and interviews were carried out by students from the Bath Studio School.

The focus of the conference was on the character traits, skills and behaviours that young people need to thrive in education and employment. We explored how schools, colleges, universities, business and the wider community can work together in partnership to provide a curriculum that helps all our young people to succeed.

The conference programme included keynote speakers, workshops and an exhibition of educational publishers, suppliers and awarding bodies.

Everyone involved in the event praised the students for what they achieved. We were very proud of them and due to their outstanding efforts, we believe that this event is going to be rolled out over Bath in years to come.

If you would like some more information of this years event, please to get in contact and we will be happy to answer and questions or queries that you may have.
